FAQ’s Postural Assessment

How long are the assessments?

Virtual Posture Assessments are 1.5 hours and in person assessments are 2 hours.

PLUMB-LINE:

A tool I use to assess and discover imbalances in posture.

How do I set up a plumb-line?

Attach a thin rope or string to the ceiling or a door frame with tape and allow the string to come just an inch or so from the floor. Tie a key or something weighted at the end to weight it down. You will stand behind the plumb line so I can see the plumb line in front of you. If you're placing the plumb in front of a wall, ensure there is ample space for you to move around between the wall and plumb. Try to use an area that's well lit with minimal obstructions behind you. An iphone or smartphone is usually better quality, but can be difficult to prop up without some type of stand. In this case, a computer is fine as long as it has good quality. Make sure I can see you from head to toe.

What is a plumb-line?

A plumb line is a string or rope that hangs from the ceiling or doorway. It dissects your body in left and right halves and front and back halves, so I can see the imbalances between those areas.

What should I use as the plumb-line?

A string or rope that is not a similar color to your skin or the background.

Is postural assessment meant to only happen once?

Yes. We do assessment once and then do a 20-30 min follow-up assessment 6-8 weeks later, no additional charge. If more work is needed or desired, we move into program design options.

How long are the stretching and mobilization programs?

Typically it is 20-30 min to be done once to twice a day for 6-8 weeks. Although, everyone’s program is unique and based on the information I collect from your plumb line and movement assessment.

What is entailed in the stretching & mobilization program?

These programs use a variety of strengthening exercises, stretches and spinal mobilizations to improve your posture.

Will you check my progress?

I check in with clients every 1.5-2 weeks via email.

When and how do we talk? How often?

We can talk as often as needed! It’s vital for your progress that I be available for questions or concerns! I’m always available via email and can usually answer within 1-2 days.

Do I need equipment for the posture assessment programs?

Nope! If you do an assessment with me, I will create a program that utilizes just your body weight, or will give you all the details you need for equipment to purchase. In addition, my pre-programmed Posture Restoration - Simple program is made to use common household items!

How do I know if my posture needs improving?

Everyone can benefit from improved posture. It is how we begin and end movement and is a result of repetitive movement. If you want to stand taller, stand prouder, or diminish chronic or acute pain, improving posture will help and can help discover the root cause.

FAQ’s Program Design

Do I need equipment for program design?

Having equipment is not necessary but in order to really see and feel the benefits of my program design, having some type of resistance is ideal. That can be resistance bands, dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, cable machines, swiss balls, bosu’s etc.

Do you do in person assessments?

I sure do! This is my bread and butter, baby! I do assessments out of an amazing facility called DIAKADI, in SoMa, San Francisco.

What is the payment structure for program design?

Clients pay by macrocycle. A macrocycle entails 3-4 programs with each program lasting 3-4 weeks totalling to 12-16 week long cycles.

How often will you check in with me?

I check in with you 6-8 times throughout a macro cycle, with extra communication each time you start a new program (every 3-4 weeks).

Do I have to pay by macrocycle?

Ideally, yes, because it helps create more consistency. If you want to test drive program design, I allow one month of program design before committing to a macrocycle.
